KHS America Announces Winners of the First Alianza Académica Virtual Festival

Mt. Juliet, TN, May 12, 2025… KHS America is proud to announce the winners of the first Alianza Académica Virtual Festival, a free festival celebrating Mariachi, Conjunto and other Regional Mexican school music programs throughout the United States. Each ensemble that participated was evaluated by a panel of renowned judges who determined placement and have provided valuable feedback for future performances.

Programs were invited to enter in three categories: Middle School Mariachi, High School Mariachi, and Conjunto/Regional Mexican/Open.

Middle School Mariachi Winners

  1. Downey Unified School District – Mariachi Oro de Downey, Downey, CA
  2. Goodnight Middle School – Mariachi de la Noche, San Marcos, TX
  3. Teton Middle School – Mustang Mariachi, Driggs, ID

High School Mariachi Winners

  1. Palmview High School – Mariachi “Los Lobos”, Mission, TX
  2. Sharyland High School – Mariachi Nuevo Cascabel JV, Mission, TX
  3. Sam Houston MSTC – Mariachi Bicentenario, Houston, TX

Conjunto/Regional Mexican/Open Winners

  1. Palmview High School – Conjunto “La Tradition”, Mission, TX
  2. Los Fresnos High School – Conjunto Halcón, Los Fresnos, TX
  3. PSJA Early College High School – Conjunto Los Poderosos, San Juan, TX
Each of the winning programs will receive an instrument and stand package that includes products from Jupiter Band Instruments, H. Jimenez Latin String Instruments, Hohner Accordions, Hercules Stands, Nomad Stands, or Mapex Drums. As the first-place winner of the High School Mariachi category, Palmview High School Mariachi “Los Lobos” has also been invited to perform at the 31st Annual Mariachi Extravaganza in December 2025.
